Literature Text

He looked beyond the back of his shoulder,
only to find nothing
but the paranoia that moved his feet.

His heart was merely the beating catalyst,
pumping life to his legs,
as he sprinted to nowhere.

Him, the pessimist beneath two wings,
running through darkened fields
to an unknown outcome.

Fleeing from an unwanted past,
And blindly sprinting into a feared
future where what hope is left, dies

Out of breath in the out sight & out of mind,
he loses himself knowing
little to nothing of land he treads.

He stops only to panic, only to fear and fret,
hearing only the sounds
of howling and growling in the dark...

Demons, awaiting a fresh carcass
tender by the rigor mortis,
and seasoned with a cold sweat.

Touching him while he breathes
would make for their violent undoing,
the filthy fiends...

His body sends tears out from
the once empty wells of his eyes,
yet the do little but blind him further

To his knees does he fall,
crumbling like a pillar beneath the flood
of the ocean, to wither in time

Whispers behind the two wings
reach his ears through
the bitter cold night,

Assuaging for a moment,
the heart gave up on his legs.
The volume increased, and the wings shuffled.
Part two of my latest mini series on how God tests his faithful.
Part 1 is "Battery Low"

the picture is a rendition of the suffering Job, from the Bible.
